Experience Newport rich in history, dining, shopping and its beaches. The most notorious spots in Newport are the Mansions. Located on Bellevue Ave, this was the summer destination of America’s wealthiest families. Today almost a dozen mansions are open to the public for tours and celebrations. If you look closely you will notice Cliff walk along the way. A 3.5 milk hike overlooks the Atlantic and a different view of the mansions from the sea. What would be Newport with out the Yachting? Known as the Yachting capitol of America, Newport attracts so many to the harbor that you may have to prepare in advance.
One site worth visiting is the International Tennis Hall of Fame were all the greatest players of the game are showcased. Within a few minutes walk from the Tennis Hall of Fame is the shopping and restaurants. You will find one of the best shopping districts in all of Rhode Island and the seafood is selected fresh from the docks. Looking for something on the Artsy side then Newport has four seasons of entertainment. Summer offers the folk, jazz and classical festivals, followed by Harvest by the Sea in October. December’s Christmas in Newport is a great holiday treat and Newport’s Winter Festival in February. There is so much to do and see in Newport you could be busy for months.
